For this week’s installment of our resident spotlight, we spoke to local ice cream man Denny Leon.

The Pasadenoid:

Thanks so much for being with us. So let’s start from the beginning. What got you first interested in selling ice cream?

Denny:

I don’t know man. I need money, you know?

The Pasadenoid:

Well is there anything in particular about selling ice cream that appealed to you?

Denny:

I just sell it to get money for stuff. Like, I wake up and I’m like “Aw damn, I got to sell this ice cream again today.” So it’s like, not that great. But when I get home from work I can chill and stuff so that’s cool.

The Pasadenoid:

Do you enjoy working with kids at all? Is that a unique experience?

Denny:

I mean, yeah the kids are ok I guess. But I’m really just trying to like go home and smoke meth. You know?

The Pasadenoid:

…Yes, we know.

Denny:

It’s like, I don’t care what people think about me. I know all of these people who say they have this great life, but they’re just trying to show off. That kind of stuff isn’t important to me.

The Pasadenoid:

Social relationships can be challenging.

Denny:

Yeah man, and I don’t put up with that fake shit. People from high school are always putting stuff online about how great their lives are and I’m just like, I don’t even care. So why do you care. You know?

The Pasadenoid:

Do you-

Denny:

-And by the time I was hooking up with Tonya I just realized I was so done with that bullshit life. And she was cool with it at first. That’s when things were real good. But eventually she just kept pushing me to go out to the opera and stuff but I just want to smoke meth and do it in the crawlspace.

The Pasadenoid:

You still got that place on Roosevelt?

Denny:

Yeah man I never see you around anymore.

The Pasadenoid:

I’ve been, uh, real busy.

Denny:

Yeah, whatever. I don’t give a shit man. That’s my whole thing. I’m just doing me. It’s all chill.

The Pasadenoid:

Cool man thanks for the interview.

Denny:

For sure.
